[Press release from the Cleveland Cinematheque.]
The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque announces its
September-October schedule, containing 43 different feature films or
film programs in four different series:
“Spirited Away: Seven Films by Hayao Miyazaki” (9/14-10/28)
includes seven masterpieces by Japan’s greatest living animator,
Hayao Miyazki.
“Premiere Showcase” (9/8-10/22) features the first Cleveland
showing of 12 new films from around the world—two of them
accompanied by their makers and two others shown at the Capitol
Theatre in Gordon Square.
“A Second Look” (9/6-10/28) spotlights 21 second-run or
classic films—many of them in new 35mm prints and five of them
marking their 50th anniversary. In October Boston’s
Alloy Orchestra will provide live musical accompaniment to two Soviet
silent films.
“Lynchpins” (10/11-26) includes three rarely-shown works by
the estimable David Lynch.
Unless noted, all films will show in the 616-seat Aitken
Auditorium of the Cleveland Institute of Art, 11141 East Boulevard in
University Circle. Free parking for filmgoers is available in
the adjacent CIA lot. Admission to each program (unless noted) is $9;
Cinematheque members $7; age 25 & under $5 (with proof of age). A
second film on the same night costs an additional $5. All movies at
the Cinematheque will be shown from film.
